The MOT Test
When does a car require an MOT?
The first MOT on a car should take place when the vehicle is 3 years old – please note that this could be different if this has 9 seats or more and/or is a taxi. An MOT tests the important elements of your vehicle to ensure they meet the minimum legal requirements, you should continue to make sure that your car maintains this standard as a minimum at all times. As the registered owner of the vehicle, it is your responsibility to ensure the vehicle is examined every 12 months.
You must get an MOT for your vehicle by:
- The third anniversary of its registration
- The anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s over 3 years old
Please note that some vehicles need to be tested from one year old – see DVSA website for full details.

What our customers think
“Absolutely brilliant service. Our windscreen wiper motor broke and we needed it fixing urgently. The garage fitted us in at incredibly short notice and had everything fixed within a few hours. They even gave the car a once over, identified that a side light was out and fixed it as well as giving he car a wash. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much. ”
“Had a time sensitive and stressy situation with my car. Being a young lady who could have quite easily been ripped off (I know nothing about cars!) they were unbelievably helpful and lovely! Had me back on the road in no time, my heroes! ”
“Thank you for looking at and fixing my MR2! The clutch feels brilliant and it drives much better than it did before. AWESOME service, kept me informed and were very patient with me and did all the work in time for when was convenient for me to pick the car up. Would definitely recommend and use again! Nick ”
